Session 9: Housing Stability & Eviction Prevention: Tools and Strategies to Assess and Minimize Risk

September 1 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

This training equips case managers with the specialized skills needed to stabilize individuals transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing during the critical first few months. Participants will explore the psychological and practical shifts of housing focused transitions and learn structured approaches for proactive risk assessment to identify early warning signs of housing instability, such as behavioral changes and financial stressors. By integrating evidence-based prevention tools and collaborative problem-solving strategies, case managers will learn how to build “tenancy toolkits” designed to strengthen client independence, support clients in effectively communicating with landlords, and promote successful household management. The session ultimately aims to give case managers the skills and knowledge needed to reduce the risk of housing loss and improve long term housing stability for program participants.

Learning Objectives
1. Participants can apply the basics of Motivational Interviewing, housing planning, trauma-responsive care, and housing-focused strategies.
2. Participants understand how to create a client-centered housing plan that address risk of loss of housing, and how to mitigate risks.
3. Participants have templates for engaging landlords and property management companies when clients are at risk of losing housing.

This training will be held virtually over Zoom.
